The kidnapped mother of the coordinating Minister for the economy and Minister of Finance’s mother, Prof Kamene Okonjo has been released.
The 82-year old, who was kidnapped by unknown men on Sunday, 9th of December from her residence in Ogbe-Ofu quarters, Ogwashi -Uku, Aniocha south local government area of Delta state, was freed five days after her kidnap.

This was confirmed by the King’s spokesman Chief Oko, who confirmed to local correspondents via a phone conversation.

Details about the release are yet to be revealed by her family members and the Nigerian Police Force.

It is not yet known whether the abduction of Kamene Okonjo, mother of former World Bank director Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, was political or for financial gain.

63 people were reportedly arrested in raids conducted during the search for Okonjo.
