President Jonathan's Pardon Of Corrupt Official Leads Bill Gates To Cancel Nigeria Trip

Microsoft CEO and America's richest man, Bill Gates, has cancelled his scheduled official visit to Nigeria, Premium Times reports.
Report said the cancellation is in connection to the presidential pardon granted former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha  and Shettima Bulama.

Gates was due in Nigeria March 27 and 28 concerning the aggressive polio eradication campaign his Bill and Melinda Foundation is undertaking in the country.

  4. Good! Many more to come. That God this incident has exposed the criminalities are done in Nigeria. I will advised the United State to even recall its ambassador because Nigeria is not worth doing business with.
The entire system is corrupt and those who claim to be in the forefront and institutions of government who are supposed to fighting corruption are the most corrupt. A nation where the president is granting presidential pardon to criminals is not fit to face America.
I will advised Bill Gate never to near this country except all government agents and individual who have stolen our resources are brought to justice.

    1. Nigeria has its constitution and it is withing the privilages of the president to pronounce freedom to any citizen of 9ja that has been convicted of whatever crime so GEJ has done nothing wrong judging by the 9ja constitution he swore to protect. 2. If USA decides to shift or put our relationship on tension we can survive. There are hundreds of nations ready to do business with us so if America feels they can bully us the have a surprise coming. The Embassy can go to somalia for all I care. And if you are a nigerian then you are a big fool that would betray ur country anyday for a visa. Who said there is no corruption or courrpt officials in the USA? I shit on u

  6. This is not a good news at all. It is not "Oga on the top" that suffers it. It is the ordinary man in naija. This guy is on collision course and must never be allowed to destroy our already-flourishing country.

  19. Excuse me, "GEJ has done nothing wrong judging by the 9ja constitution", freedom is the right to do 'the right thing'. To misuse your privilege of presidential pardon and pardon criminals is not only sending the wrong message, it's putting the very constitution you speak of at risk. Does this mean that if I rob the country blind, then do something that pleases government, I will be eligible to have my records erased? I don't think I ever read that anywhere in our constitution. Note, this man's crimes were against the nation, he didn't rob a bank, he stole from government purses, from Nigerians as a whole! Elsewhere, even if such people are given more lenient jail terms, their records still remain. NO COUNTRY EVER PROGESSED BY EXHALTING ITS CRIMINALS. What we need is strong messages of severe repercussions for corruption so as to dissuade those involved in, or contemplating it. We certainly do not need to provide loopholes and silver linings that encourage criminals of the possibility that they will get away with their crimes in the end.

  20. The problem in Nigeria is our leadership way of doing things. Gates should please extend his philanthropy to the poor people of Nigeria through the mosques or churches not through the government because it will never reaches the target groups.
