Kenya: Problems Facing Kenya Will Soon End, Says Uhuru

PRESIDENT Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto have dismissed Cord's referendum calls. They said the opposition should give them time to deliver their pre-election pledges.

Speaking yesterday after attending a church service at Redeem Gospel Church, Nairobi, Uhuru accused cord principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka of putting the country into electioneering mood.


He said the bickering will "scare away investors". "We will not develop this country, create jobs for the youth if we don't create an environment which will build confidence among investors," Uhuru said.
He said problems facing Kenya, including insecurity, will soon end. He said previous governments faced similar problems. "We cannot create the dream nation in an insecure environment. Security is crucial to creation of jobs," Uhuru said.

Ruto said the opposition leaders should rise above insults and engage in constructive politics. He said they will not allow the opposition to destroy them over transformative agenda. Ruto urged Cord leaders to desist from constantly issuing threats and insults to a popularly elected government.
