Nigeria To Mark Six Months Since Chibok Girls' Kidnap

As the United Nations marks the International Day of the Girl Child tomorrow, the #BringBackOurGirls movement and the families of the abducted Chibok school girls are seeking to mobilize to demand for the immediate rescue of the abducted girls and also ending the humanitarian tragedy.
In a statement by the #BringBackOurGirls Group, the media representative, Olatunji Lanre Baruwa and signed by its principal members, it called for a Global Week of Action from 11th to 18th October, considering October 14, will mark exactly six months since 276 girls were abducted.
57 girls who escaped on their own, while 219 girls still remain in captivity. This year's theme for United Nations International Day of the Girl Child is entitled:"Empowering Adolescent Girls: Ending The Circle of Violence."
The group therefore pleads to all stakeholders to come out en-masse during the week and raise their voices to demand renewed actions for the immediate rescue of the Chibok girls.
It also calls on the Federal Government and other governments lending support to the rescue operation to intensify any action already being taken to achieve quick result of the immediate rescue of the girls.
The group encourage friends of #chibokgirls around the world to hold vigils in communities and where possible at Nigerian embassies in their countries.
