Pastor, members arrested for fake miracle display

A syndicate specializing in faking miracles and prophecies for pastors to deceive members of the public, have been busted by the Enugu State Police as they have been arrested, alongside a pastor who has been introducing them to other men of God.

Punch reports that members of the syndicate identified as Obi Ejike from Ubaho Okija in Anambra State, Mary Kuku from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Joy Oluwakemi from Lagos State, Chizoba Nwosu from Umunze from Anambra State and Uchechi Peter, from Ebonyi State, had been faking healing for some men of God who contracted and paid them for their services.

They met their Waterloo while on their way to Abakiliki, Ebonyi State, where they were contracted for a phony miracle 'performance' for a pastor in the state.

Their secret was revealed when an argument ensued amongst them on Friday, August 19, 2016, while waiting to board a vehicle at the Holy Ghost Park, Enugu.

Confirming the arrest of the fake miracle syndicate, the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ebere Amaraizu, said the fraudsters were apprehended when their argument drew the attention of some policemen within the premises of the park, and two members of the syndicate, Ejike and Oluwakemi, confessed on the group’s activities.

Ejike and Oluwakemi then led the police to arrest other members of the gang at P and T bus stop, Enugu, the following day where they had gathered to join a bus to the venue of the church program.

A member of the group, Uchechi, while confessing to their different roles, told the police that said they were usually recruited in large numbers and kept in a house from where they would shuttle to confirm fake prophecies and stage-manage miracles for pastors, and were paid by the pastor who acted as their coordinator.

According to Uchechi, members of the syndicate would come out to ‘confirm’ a prophecy, which would be made by the pastor in the course of the service, based on the information they provided before the session.

“Some pastors use us to grow their churches and ministries and we are paid later through our coordinator, depending on our roles,” she said.
