According to a report by metro.co.uk, the unnamed woman initially thought it was her boyfriend but after some seconds she realised he was sleeping next to her.
She is said to have whispered to him that someone was in the room.
The boyfriend reportedly got up and asked the man who he was.
The man, whose name turned out to be Joseph Taouk, replied that he was sorry and that he thought he was in the boarding house, the report said.
The woman and her boyfriend are said to have escorted Taouk out of the house in Sydney, Australia, and handed him over to the police.
The report added that he was jailed two years despite his lawyer arguing that he suffered from mental illness.
