Nigeria's Islamic Leader Sultan Of Sokoto Refutes Alleged Attempt To Assassinate Him

The Sultanate council has said the report of a purported plot to assassinate the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakr 111, was simply a falsehood.
While debunking the story published in one of the national dailies, the Sultanate council urge media practitioners to verify their facts before going to press.

The Sultanate Council in a statement signed by the Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba, noted that the assassination story as reported in the newspaper was a contrived attempt to link the security operation that took place on on Thursday in the Gidan Dare area of Sokoto township with His Eminence, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad III.

While noting that the newspaper refused to cross check its facts before going to press, the statement maintained that it was unethical for any news media to published falsehood.

The statement added that it was imperative to issue a rebuttal so as to correct the misleading impression the report may have created in the minds of Nigerians.
