High Off That CNN: Dr. Sanjay Gupta Gets His Own Marijuana Strain

Helping Hands Herbal Dispensary in Boulder, Colorado, has announced the debut of a new strain of marijuana named after Dr. Sanjay Gupta, the CNN medical correspondent who recently changed his position on medical marijuana use after realizing just how many horrifically debilitating ailments the miracle plant effectively relieves.
The strain is called Sanjay Gupta Kush. According to marijuana.com, it is a modified Indica (body high) rooted in southeast Asia, the legendary breeding ground for a myriad of well-known, Hindu-kush varieties.

Gupta joins President Obama and Connie Chung in the very exclusive club of people who have had the distinct honor of a strain of weed being named after them.

From Marijuana:

“Dr. Gupta’s recent reporting on marijuana puts him at the forefront of the medical cannabis movement, and we thought what better way to honor his efforts than by giving him his own strength. We’d like to ensure he remains part of the annals of cannabis culture, and now he will,” said Jeff Kless, managing owner of Helping Hands.

The neurosurgeon recently directed a documentary on medical marijuana, mainly focusing on the unbelievable aid it provides for juvenile patients who suffer from seizures that prevent them from eating, sleeping and walking like normal children.

Marijuana.com describes the strain as a “pungent, hash-like hit of rich Indica flavor.”

“Make sure you’ve cleared your calendar and have nothing planned for the next few hours,” the site says about this particular high, “as the elevated onset hits you between the eyes instantaneously with an enduring, long-lasting effect.”
