People think I’m not a good actress - Ghanaian Actress Juliet Ibrahim

Actress Juliet Ibrahim has revealed that one of the challenges she faces as an actress is that people tell her she is not good as an actress.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Late Night Express with Kofi Laing, Juliet Ibrahim said, people believe that she is still getting roles in movies because of her skin colour.

“I didn’t face a lot of challenges when coming to the industry but the challenges I face outside of the industry or to grow bigger as I’ve grown now is everybody out there who thinks that because she’s of a colour, that’s why she’s still on the screens or that’s why people still use her.”

The ‘4 Play’ actress says the comments hurt her a lot and she hopes that people will stop judging her based on her colour.

Juliet Ibrahim started acting in 2005 when she beat 50 other competitors to win the lead role in the movie, ‘Crime to Christ’.

She has appeared over 30 movies since then and has also bagged some awards including 2015 Best Female Actor of the Year at the GN-Bank Awards and Favourite Actress at the 2015 Ghana Movie Awards.

Bent on proving people wrong, the actress, who is also a singer and philanthropist says, “People have just refused to look beyond that so they still judge me or classify me based on the fact that they think that I can act and not just because of my colour. I’m trying so hard to make people … at least try and watch my movies so that they can be able to see that I’m doing this.”

She is currently shooting a new Television series, ‘Every Woman Has a Story’ which will hit the screens soon.
