Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast Set For Friendly
Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast will celebrate their successful qualifications for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations when they meet in a friendly in Ouagadougou on Tuesday afternoon.
The Stallions sealed their place in the finals in Gabon with a 2-1 home win over Botswana this past weekend which assured them of top spot in Group D of the qualifiers.
It was the same story for defending AFCON champions Ivory Coast, who held out for a 1-1 draw with Sierra Leone to be top of Group I.
Both teams will also be looking to prepare for the upcoming kick off of 2018 World Cup qualifiers in early October: Burkina Faso will face South Africa at home in Group D, while the Elephants will host Mali in Group C.
Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast have met in 19 official matches according to FIFA’s statistical database, with the latter claiming nine wins compared to one for the former, while nine matches have been drawn.
