On more than one occasion, ex-Senegal and Liverpool striker El-hadji Diouf has criticised his Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard.

The Lions of Teranga legend was speaking to LÉquipe, saying he advised Italy's Mario Balotelli against joining the Reds.

In the past Diouf has lashed out at Liverpool legends Jamie Carragher and 'Stevie G', and he has done it again.

In support of Balotelli, Diouf said Gerrard is a jealous man and doesn't like men of character compared to the Italian star.

"I told him not to go to Liverpool," Diouf told L'Equipe.

"It wasn't made for him, that things couldn't go well with Gerrard, who has never had his talent and then said negative things about him.

"Gerrard is a jealous man who doesn't like men of character. Mario is a good person that you should listen to.

"He's not a guy who's going to cause problems in the dressing room.

"There are a lot of things that have been made up about him. People tell tales about him, but they're often a load of rubbish."

On the other hand, the ex-Leeds United man added that Balotelli was young when he arrived in the English Premier League and it was not easy for him.

"When he had problems at (Manchester) City, when he wasn't playing, we talked. I told him that it [his form] would come back," adds the legend.

"Of course it was hard for him, because he's very sensitive. People perhaps don't understand that."
