140 People Killed In Borno As Boko Haram Attacks Mosques
At least 140 people have been killed in mosques in Kukawa, Borno state by Boko Haram insurgents.
The attack reportedly took place on Wednesday night, following the murder of 48 people the day before not far away from Kukawa.
“We are being told that Boko Haram fighters arrived in seven cars and nine motocycles in the town before embarking on their attack, and that over 1000 Nigerian soldiers were in Kanwa, about 11km away but didn’t come to the rescue,” according to an Al-Jazeera correspondent.
The attack occurred when the victims were inside mosques, praying ahead of breaking their fasts.
Officials in Kukawa said some fighters also broke into people’s homes, killing women and children as they prepared the evening meal.
