EGYPT: Death Toll Rises To 76 As More People Die From Heatwave In Egypt

Seventy-six people have died in Egypt over the past five days because of a heatwave, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

At least 447 people were admitted to hospitals nationwide after suffering heat exhaustion, according to the ministry.

Most of the victims were old people.

The current heatwave, in which temperatures reached 46°C in some parts of Egypt, is the country's worst in nearly four decades, according to the state-run Meteorology Office.

Health authorities have repeatedly called on people, mainly the elderly and children, to avoid exposure to the sun.
