Nigeria: 5 Storey Building Collapses In Lagos

The General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA,Mr. Michael Akindele, who confirmed the report, said six persons have been rescued so far . It was gathered that the collapsed building was completed less than a year ago. According to Akindele, the incident occurred around 5 am, during the heavy rainfall.
“So far, we have recovered five dead bodies and six persons have also been rescued. Though, we cannot ascertain the total number of trapped people, but rescue operation is still on-going.” Akindele told Vanguard.
Rescue operation is being conducted by responders such as; National Emergency management Authority, NEMA, LASEMA, Lagos State Fire Service, Rapid Response Squad, RRS, Civil Defence Corp, Merchant Navy and members of the state police command.
Let Naija Civil Engineers wake up. Is it that they did not read Chemical Analysis in their cause of studies? Let researchers find out this... They use Sand dredged from Salt water to build houses. Definitely, the building will collapse, no matter the quantity and quality of Cement used to build the structure. Salt is anti-oxidant to lime stone which is called cement. All the Sand used to build houses around Lekki, Ajah, Island, Epe and so on where dredged from Salt water. Why is that it's only Lagos that structural building collapse? Let the wise think.
