According to reports, they have obtained documents which it says prove that the police recently compelled Ghanaian actor John Dumelo to pay a lady he owed GHC30,000.
According to the report, the unnamed lady told the Osu police that Dumelo had refused to pay about GHC30,000 he borrowed from her despite repeated attempts for him to do so.
She is to have claimed to be in a relationship with Dumelo and that the two were expected to marry this year before fell out with each other.
The lady is said to have listed the sums of money she gave to Dumelo since 2013 and what they were meant for in a police statement.
It totalled GHC40, 000 but she said, according to the report, that Dumelo had already paid GHC10,000.
She reportedly told the police that all the money she gave to the actor totalled about GHC70,000 but that she could not remember what exactly they had been used for.
The report said law enforcement officials asked Dumelo to sign a cheque for GHC30,000 to cover the debt, which he did.
In 2013, investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas threatened to “expose” John Dumelo for allegedly defrauding a Ghanaian woman based in Australia.
“Somebody should be whispering into John Dumelo’s ears that whereas it is a fantastic idea to own a clothing line, it is not ideal to do that at the expense of a three-month-old baby and the mum. I may be forced to release some audio tapes on him on the saga.
“It is not fair to reap where you have not sown. If the matter is not put to rest in two weeks, I would release them for people to make their own judgement on the Australian issue,” Anas wrote on his Facebook page.
