An Ethiopian housemaid has been beheaded by the Saudi authorities after being convicted of the murder of her employer's child three years ago.

In a statement issued by the Interior Ministry on Monday, September 26, the ministry noted that execution was carried out following an endorsement of the death sentence by the king.

The convict reportedly confessed to stabbing her six-year-old ward to death in June 2013 in an alleged retaliation for the ill-treatment she suffered at the hands of her employers.

The total number of beheadings carried out since the beginning of this year in Saudi Arabia comes to 119, including the executions carried out today.

Saudi Arabia is reported to have imposed the death penalty for murder, armed robbery, banditry, rape, drug-trafficking and witchcraft.
