BREAKING : South African Paralympain Oscar Pistorius Sentenced To 5 years In Jail For Killing Girlfriend

Convicted killer Oscar Pistorius has been handed a sentence of five years in jail by Judge Thokozile Masipa in the High Court in Pretoria.

On 12 September 2014 Masipa ruled that Pistorius was guilty of culpable homicide in the death of Reeva Steenkamp, whom he shot and killed on Valentine’s Day 2013.
Pistorius was also found guilty of the negligent discharging of a firearm at Tasha’s restaurant in Melrose Arch, for which he received a sentence of three years imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years.
The two terms will be served concurrently.
State prosecutor Gerrie Nel had argued that the Paralympian athlete had to pay for killing Steenkamp, saying the court owed it to society and for Pistorius to be an example to future offenders.
“The minimum term that society will be happy with will be a 10-year imprisonment term.”
However, defence advocate Barry Roux had argued that Pistorius could be rehabilitated and help society, if given the chance to do community service.
He suggested that the athlete be sentenced to house arrest and community service.

Couldn't they have helped rehabilitate the society if given the chance?
