Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan Orders Reinstatement Of Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi

President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered that Keshi should return to his post as the Eagles head coach, even as the embattled coach told journalists that he will have to do some consultations before coming out with a decision.

Keshi, who spent the better part of Thursday behind the close doors with the Sports minister, Dr Tammy Danagogo, came out smiling and was upbeat while speaking with journalists.

Though he would not want to reveal his decision yet but his body language showed he was ready to flow with the new tide.

He only recently collected N10 million as part of the entitlements owed him by his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

“If it is true, I just thank Mr President, because like you all know he is the father of the nation,” he said.

Asked if he is ready to accede to Jonathan’s order, Keshi said: “Yeah, he is the father of the nation, but I’m not sure if I will say yes or no. I have to consult with my family first”.

Probed further if he did not hold any grudge against anybody for his sack, the former coach of Togo said: “Life is too short to start quarelling with people”.

Asked to confirm if it was true he wanted to coach Ghana, he said “If I had wanted to change job ask my boss Aminu Maigari, I would have done that with Guinea because of their package. I was not thinking of Ghana, I love my country, because this is a country I captained for 14 years, so you can understand my passion for the Nigerian national team”.

Keshi stated further that considering what happened to him and other members of his technical crew last month, it would be difficult to consider Jonathan’s request.

“We were considered as immigrants in our own country, you all know what I mean, it is something  very difficult to take, but I am so grateful to Mr President for considering me worthy of being called back. I am not saying I will take the job yet.”

He noted that “one factor bedevilling the Eagles is that Nigerians don’t have faith in the team, but as I said I will have to consult”.
