Traore joins CSKA Moscow on loan

Monaco forward Lacina Traore has joined Russian Premier League side CSKA Moscow on a season-long loan deal from French club AS Monaco.

Monaco forward Lacina Traore has joined Russian Premier League side CSKA Moscow on a season-long loan deal from French club AS Monaco.

Following the departure of Ahmed Musa to Leicester City, the Russian champions set their sights on a replacement for the Nigerian captain and will be hoping Traore can fill the void.

The 26-year-old has previously played in Russia for Kuban Krasnodar and Anzhi Makhachkala.

Following a disappointing spell at Everton, the lanky forward returned to Monaco - but injury again hampered his progression as he only managed three goals in 19 French Ligue 1 appearances last season.

The 2015 African Cup of Nations champion will be hoping to have the same impact as fellow Ivory Coast forward, Seydou Doumbia, at the club.

Doumbia, who scored close to a 100 goals for the Russian outfit, will spend the upcoming season on-loan at FC Basel.

CSKA kick-off their season against Zenit St.Petersburg in the Super Cup on 23 July.
