Zamalek win race to sign Nigerian player Ohawuchi
Zamalek have beaten local Cairo rivals to sign Nigeria forward Stanley Ohawuchi.
Zamalek president Ahmed Mortada Mansour announced the season-long loan of 26-year-old Ohawuchi from another Egyptian club Wadi Degla.
Zamalek will pay Wadi Degla a loan fee of $500,000 with the player earning $400,000 during the loan period.
The White Knights have the option to buy the former Bayelsa United star permanently for a fee of $1.5 million.
Zamalek rivals Ahly as well as top Saudi club Ittihad of Jeddah were keen to snap up one of the most prolific foreign strikers in the Egyptian league.
Ohawuchi has represented Nigeria at U20 level and has also played professionally in Malta.
