Ghana international Baba Rahman popped up for his first Europa League goal as Schalke edged Nice 1-0 in France on Thursday evening.

The Chelsea loanee, playing in his fourth game for the Royal Blues, hammered home from an acute angle following a neat exchange with Max Meyer on 75 minutes; to seal all three points for the away side.

The 22-year-old was suitably delighted with the strike as Schalke switch focus back to the German Bundesliga, with a clash against Hertha BSC in Berlin next on the agenda.

"The victory is very important - also in terms of the Bundesliga," said Rahman in the aftermath.

"We are getting stronger, from week to week we can better implement the ideas of the head coach. We look forward to the coming tasks.

"This was my first Europa League goal and I'm over the moon. It is now necessary that we focus on our next game against Hertha."
