Ghana have been rocked by the news that key striker Asamoah Gyan may miss their 2018 World Cup qualifier away to Egypt later this month.
The 30-year-old striker picked up an injury in training for his UAE club Al Ahli on Tuesday and missed their 6-0 win over Hatta on Wednesday.
The Black Stars striker is set to undergo further tests to determine the extent of the injury, but it is feared he will not be able to feature in the qualifier on November 13 in Alexandria.
“It will be very hard to participate in Ghana’s encounter against the Pharaohs on the 13th of November in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers,” Gyan was quoted by UAE portal 24.
“I will undergo tests tomorrow under the supervision of the club’s medical team to find out the extent of my injury and the duration of my time out.”
The news is a massive blow for Ghana, who are set to be without their all-time leading goal scorer for what on paper is their toughest fixture in Group E.
Avram Grant’s side are already playing catch-up to the Pharaohs after drawing their opening qualifier 0-0 at home to Uganda last month.
