Rumours of a vendetta between senior Ghana players Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan have been completely rejected by the latter.

Speculation in the Ghanaian media has suggested that Gyan and Ayew have tension between them in regards to the captaincy of the national team.

The veteran striker is the current skipper, while West Ham United midfielder Ayew is his deputy – but the reports suggest that he is vying to take the armband.

Gyan, however, insists that he has a good relationship with Ayew and has asked the public to stop spreading any rumours of an unhealthy rivalry between them.

‘’I don’t have a problem with Andre. He has been my friend way back, since he joined the national team, I have been his inspiration,’’ Gyan told Joy FM.

‘’Sometimes people try to bring this rivalry between two stars in the team. We have seen this before in the olden days, but I always try to keep things real, I don’t have any problem with Ayew.

‘’He’s a great guy, a fighter on the field and plays with his heart.

‘’My advice to people is to stop putting this rivalry between two players who are good to each other.

“People should stop because when they do that, It brings conflict to the team which there is unity and will not help the team.”

Ghana will hope to have both Gyan and Ayew in their team when they tackle Egypt away from him in their next 2018 World Cup qualifier in November.
